Google accounts are available to all students, faculty and staff within Chapman University's Google domain using their Chapman email address. All students, faculty, and staff have access to several cloud-based apps such as google docs, google sheets, google drive, and much more. Students, faculty, and staff with @chapman.edu accounts will not have access to Gmail services through their Chapman University accounts. Only legacy student accounts (@mail.chapman.edu) will have access to gmail services.
Important Changes to Google Storage
Last year Google announced it would end its long-standing policy of providing unlimited storage to higher education institutions. All universities will now have to limit the amount of data they can store in their Google instances. Please visit our Google Storage Change page to learn more.
Key Tips
- Please do not rely on looking at the user name/email address to determine user's classification (student, faculty, or staff). Please note, we have included identifiers, such as “Student”, next to the user's name in the name field so that they can be clearly identified.
- When sharing Google files between students, faculty, and staff, you are advised to choose "Anyone with the link" from the "More . . ." options. This will assure that everyone is able to access the files, regardless of their email format. Do not choose the CHAPMAN UNIV option.
- You may receive warning notices about sharing outside the organization when using some collaborative Google applications. You should click Proceed and disregard these notices.
