» Living in the Community
As you move into your new place, keep in mind that you’re now part of the Orange community. The people who live next door, the people down the block, the people behind you, and you and your roommates for the time you are here, make up this great place to live. Orange is a big city with a small town feel, which you will be part of and get to enjoy.
Here are tips for living in Orange and being a good neighbor during your stay.

Get to know your neighbors
Take the time to get to know your neighbors. After moving in, take a stroll up and down the street and introduce yourself and your roommates. It is always recommended to share contact information to notify your neighbors before gatherings or events.

Lend a hand, if you can
Offer to help your neighbors with bringing in groceries or moving heavy furniture. Not only will they appreciate it, they will most likely return the favor when you find yourself in need of a hand.
If you decide to host a gathering...
Give your neighbors a heads up. Make sure they have your contact information in case any issues arise and share your plan to manage noise and traffic to minimize any disruptions.

What’s with this "party ordinance" anyway?
The City of Orange has a disturbance ordinance that prohibits loud and unruly parties as well as underage drinking. Fines and sanctions can be issued from the City and Chapman University for any violations. For questions, please contact Off-Campus Housing at (714) 997-6593.

Respect differences
Be aware that late night activities and certain outdoor decor may not be embraced by all who live in your area. Please be respectful of your neighbors’ right to a peaceful living experience, especially when it comes to noise. While it might not seem late to you, loud noise after 10 p.m. can be tough for neighbors with kids or who work early.

Bring in trash cans
Citizens of Orange take great pride in their community and like to keep it looking good. Remember to bring in your trash cans the same day as trash pick up.
