Hello Panther Family! My name is Victor Arteaga, and I am the Fire Safety Specialist at Chapman University. I have been providing fire prevention, fire safety, and CPR training needs for our campus and community since 2012. My previous 25 years of fire service experience also includes 15 years as a professional firefighter for the Greater Los Angeles area as well as a Deputy Fire Marshal for the University of California Los Angeles. I am also certified as a Hazardous Materials Specialist and Instructor which allows me to train our Department Public Safety Officers in the event of an emergency. My years as an EMT have also allowed me to supervise our Chapman University student First Aid Team while preparing them to become better first responders and providing good patient contact skills. I have a son, Nathan (‘22), who is a Pre-PA major and a daughter, Ava (‘25), who is a Graphic Art major. My oldest son, Matthew (‘20), graduated with a BS in Kinesiology and is preparing to pursue his doctorate in Physical Therapy.

Elliott

Ambassador
IG: chaptownfiredog
Elliott has been at Chapman University since 2015, when he attended the Staff Summit at just 7 weeks old. He is one of nine puppies born to a rescue dog on Easter Sunday in San Antonio. Often confused for a Lab mix, he is actually a Rottweiler, Pit Bull, Boxer, and sight hound mix. As ambassador for Fire & Life Safety, Elliott loves to be on campus meeting students, who may be missing their own pets back home, and sharing safety messages at education and training events. He has represented the university in the Orange May Day Parade and continues his training as resident good boy.
