Chapman is proud to be a long-standing community partner, contributing millions annually in support of local infrastructure, services, and programming.

Property Taxes*

  • $11.1 Million (2015-2024)
  • $1.5 Million (2023-2024)

While nonprofit universities are tax-exempt on educational buildings, Chapman pays property taxes on its faculty and staff housing.

 

 

Annual Payments to the City of Orange

  • $500,000 to Orange’s General Fund**
  • $52,000 to support additional Orange PD staffing during peak activity
  • $43,000 for Hart Park and El Camino Real Park maintenance***

* Taxable residential properties
** Voluntary commitment following Panther Village acquisition
*** Public access is available when not in use by Chapman teams

 

Community Events & Campus Use

Chapman opens its doors to the community throughout the year:

  • $123,000 in campus rental fee waivers in 2023–2024 for Orange-based events

  • Hosts events such as:
                • OUSD’s Visual & Performing Arts Showcase
                • Leadership Orange
                • State of the City
                • Women of the Year (Congressman Lou Correa)
                • Congressional Art Contest (Congresswoman Young Kim)

 

Donated Space for Community Use

Chapman provides free use of land and facilities to Orange Home Grown, including:

  • The Educational Farm
  • Weekly Farmers Market 

 

 

Giving Back to Local Nonprofits

In 2023–2024, Chapman contributed $82,000 in charitable support to Orange-based nonprofits such as:

  • Friendly Center
  • Youth Centers of Orange
  • The HUB
  • Orange Unified Public School Foundation
  • Orange Police Foundation & Orange Chamber of Commerce
