Public Safety is pleased to offer the Chapman community SafeRide, a free escort service for students, faculty, and staff during hours when safety is of utmost concern. SafeRide is operated by student workers hired and trained by Public Safety to provide safe escorts to and from campus locations, vehicles, residence halls, and other destinations within the designated service boundaries. SafeRide's only service limitations are its designated boundaries and hours of operation (see Hours of Operation and the Boundaries listed on the right). Outside SafeRide's operating hours, Public Safety Officers can provide an escort upon request to anyone who feels the need for a safe escort.
How to Use TripShot On Demand for SafeRide
- Download the TripShot App
Download TripShot from either the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android). - Set Up Your Account
Launch the app and use "chapman" as the Service Name. Log in via the SSO option using your Chapman University credentials. - Request a Ride
From the Home screen, tap On Demand. Tap "Where would you like to go" and choose your destination by either dropping a pin on the map or search for an address. Tap Request Ride to confirm your trip. - Track Your Ride
Once your request has been submitted, you can see the SafeRide's real-time location and estimated arrival. You also can cancel the ride if your plans change.
Persons utilizing this service must adhere to the following guidelines:
- Persons using Safe Ride shall not abuse the system and are limited to no more than four trips in one night.
- Drivers will only wait a maximum of three minutes after the dispatcher has notified the customer that the ride is on scene.
- All passengers must wear their safety belts, and Safe Ride vehicles will not be filled beyond their capacity.
- Drivers will not tolerate or accept rude, boisterous, or dangerous behavior from anyone. All inappropriate behavior will be reported to Public Safety.
- Carrying an open or unsealed container of alcohol and/or illegal drugs is prohibited. Smoking is not allowed at any time.
- Each passenger is allowed to carry two small pieces of luggage. Both pieces must be able to fit safely in the rear storage compartment of the vehicle.
All persons utilizing this service should be aware that wait times may vary based on call load.
