Specific Plan Amendment 7

»Envision Chapman

Founded in 1861, Chapman University has proudly called the City of Orange home since 1954. Today, we continue to invest in the success of our students while strengthening our relationship with the local community.

To meet future needs, Chapman asked a simple but important question:
What’s next?

The answer is an updated Chapman University Specific Plan—a forward-thinking vision for the next 10 years.

Key Goals Of The Plan:

  • Enhance infrastructure to better balance university life with the neighborhood, including improvements in parking, traffic, open spaces, and good neighbor programs

  • Preserve the historic character of Old Towne Orange

  • Increase on-campus housing to accommodate 50% of undergraduate students, including all first- and second-year students

  • Maximize the use of university-owned property to support academics, research, and community events

  • Expand access to a Chapman education by growing responsibly

The last plan was approved in 2012 and guided us through 2022. If approved by the Orange City Council, this new plan will guide our progress through the next decade.

Community Impact Study

We are happy to share highlights from a recent study conducted by an independent economic research firm. As the numbers show, the university’s commitment to our partnership with the City of Orange has measurable, positive results.
