Specific Plan Amendment 7

ยป Envision Chapman

Founded in 1861, Chapman University has called the City of Orange home since 1954.

Chapman provides students with a world-class education, encouraging students to embrace curiosity and to become multi-dimensional, original thinkers who can make positive changes in their communities.

To serve the needs of our students, faculty, staff and the wider Orange community now and in the future, the university asked itself, “What’s next?

The result? A fresh vision laid out in an updated Chapman University Specific Plan that aims to:

  • Strengthen the infrastructure that balances university life with the neighborhood, including parking, traffic management, open spaces and good neighbor programs.
  • Preserve and respect the historic character of Old Towne Orange.
  • House 50% of our undergraduate students on campus, including all first- and second-year students.
  • Make the best use of university-owned property to enhance our academic offerings, faculty research and community events.
  • Provide more people with the opportunity to become Chapman panthers.

The last update to the Chapman University Specific Plan was approved in 2012 and guided the University through 2022. The proposed update provides a plan to guide us for the next 10 years. If the Orange City Council gives it the green light, Chapman will be able to prepare for what’s next for future generations of learners.

Community Impact Study

We are happy to share highlights from a recent study conducted by an independent economic research firm. As the numbers show, the university’s commitment to our partnership with the City of Orange has measurable, positive results.
