ยป Returning To Campus
As Chapman staff begin their phased return to campus, it is important to start making preparations. IS&T has provided important information below to help staff transition back to onsite work.
Employee Return to Onsite Work Readiness Checklist
Before returning to onsite work, please be sure to review the information below.

Gather your equipment
Gather any Chapman-owned equipment that you took home so you can return to campus. This may include: computer, cables, monitor, keyboard, mouse, docking station, printer, headset, web cam, or similar. If you received a loaner laptop, please note that you should use it both at the remote work location and at the on-campus work location. If you previously had a desktop on campus, we recommend that you schedule an appointment on the IS&T Bookings page – “Docking Station Setup to utilize your existing monitor, keyboard, and mouse with your laptop.
Loaner Equipment
At this time, due to a very limited supply, IS&T will not be able to provide any further loaner laptops. If you have a laptop, it includes a built-in webcam and can be used for video calls and Teams/Zoom meetings. If you still require a webcam, headset, or docking station, please email our Service Desk to check the availability at servicedesk@chapman.edu.
Put Your Data in OneDrive
If you have been using a personal computer at home, you may need to upload data to cloud storage so you can easily access it from campus. OneDrive is recommended.
For more information on how to use OneDrive, please see Get Started with OneDrive.
Technical Support
While face-to-face service will be available, please note that the IS&T Service Desk will take a “remote first” approach to technical support. If in-person support is necessary, we require that both parties follow the university’s COVID safety guidelines, including maintaining social distancing, wearing appropriate PPE/mask, and have the absolute minimum staff present to minimize contact for your safety and ours.
Expect Transition Downtime
As it took time to get set up at home, it may take some time to get set up in the office again.
Coordinate with IS&T in Advance
To avoid overwhelming your Service Desk team, coordinate plans with IS&T in advance if you anticipate needing assistance with setting up devices.
Support Delays
As we return, please understand that we will be under a heavy workload and will strive and continue to provide you timely support.
Campus Building Access
Campus buildings have been unlocked so your keycard can be used to open offices and interior spaces. If you are unable to gain access to a building or campus area, contact Public Safety 714-997-6763. If your keycard needs reactivation, please submit a request to our IS&T Service Desk;
Phone Service
If your phone line was moved to Microsoft Teams-based phone service, then that feature will continue upon your return to the office. Old phones (Avaya/Nortel) will no longer function if your line was migrated. IS&T has a limited number of physical desk phones available that interoperate with Teams; however, we encourage you to utilize and bring your headsets to campus in lieu of a physical phone if possible. In Teams, you will still retain your campus personal phone extension and will be able to make and receive both Chapman and outside calls using your campus phone number.
Please reference the following webinar video and steps on how to set this up if you have not already done so: Set up Your Soft Phone Using Microsoft Teams | Chapman Newsroom.
