Tutors are hired for a variety of subjects.  Tutoring is an excellent way to review and better understand course material while helping your fellow students.

Subjects include, but are not limited to:

  • Academic Mentoring
  • Accounting
  • Biology
  • Chemistry
  • Economics
  • Finance
  • Math
  • Music
  • Spanish

Are you patient, responsible and creative? If yes, the Academic Mentor or Student Tutor position may be for you.

  • A or A- in the course student wishes to tutor (or in a higher level course)
  • Overal 3.0 GPA
  • Recommendation from Chapman faculty member who teaches the course
  • Character reference from a non-family member or peer
  • Sophomore standing


Interested students should go to the online job database to apply.  Positions include:

  • Academic Mentor
  • Student Tutor (for graduate/undergraduate students who would like to tutor undergraduate level courses)

In addition to completing the online employment application, Academic Mentor and Tutor applicants are required to submit an Academic Mentor or Tutor Recommendation Form completed by a professor for the course they wish to tutor. A letter addressing their character is also required.  It can be from another professor, supervisor, coach, etc. The character reference letter cannot come from a family member or peer.
