Become a Tutor

Tutors Help Students in Various Courses. Subjects include, but are not limited to:

  • Academic Mentoring
  • Accounting
  • Athletic Training
  • Biology
  • Chemistry
  • Economics
  • Film and TV
  • Finance
  • Math
  • Music
  • Physics
  • Physical Therapy
  • Psychology
  • Spanish
Tutors need to be patient, responsible, punctual and creative. They need to be willing to let tutees do the work, so that the students may become more independent learners.

Candidates should be current Chapman Students:

  • With Sophomore standing or higher
  • With a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Who have received an A/A- in the course(s) they wish to tutor
  • Have at least one faculty recommendation

Interested students should log on to the online job database to apply.  Tutoring positions include:

  • Student Tutor (for graduate/undergraduate students who would like to tutor undergraduate level courses)
  • Academic Mentor

Tutor Applicants are required to submit a Professor Recommendation Form for the course in which they wish to tutor, and a letter addressing your character from another professor, supervisor, coach, etc., in addition to completing the online application.  The character reference letter cannot come from a family member or peer.
