First Generation Summer Bridge Program

» First Generation Summer Bridge Program 2024

Summer Bridge is a pre-semester orientation program that supports your transition to the university and introduce you to the larger first-generation community. The program involves:

  • Workshops from campus support services.
  • Insight and tips from current first-gen students.
  • Community-building activities.
  • Lots of fun!

This event is for incoming first-generation college students at Chapman University and is run by staff and students who they themselves are first-generation college students. Chapman defines a first-generation college student as one whose parents(s)/ legal guardian(s) have not completed a bachelor's degree at a four-year college or university.

"Being a summer bridge leader for 3 years was incredibly rewarding because I was able to support first-gen students like myself and make them feel more comfortable at Chapman. Without this program, I wouldn't have been as involved at Chapman as I was able to be. It elevated my college experience more than I ever thought possible!”
Cintya Felix ‘25

Being the first to go to college in your family is challenging, but the Summer Bridge program gave me the tools and confidence to begin my journey at Chapman. It introduced me to my first friends, an on-campus job, and more. I look back at my time here and wholeheartedly thank this program for being the highlight of my college experience.”
