»First Generation Summer Bridge Program 2026

The Summer Bridge Program is a pre-orientation program designed to help you transition to university life and connect with fellow first-generation students at Chapman University.

Participants can look forward to:

  • Engaging workshops led by campus support services.
  • Insights and advice from current first-generation Chapman students.
  • Collaborative community-building activities.
  • Campus tours, social events and more!

We're excited to welcome incoming 2026 first-gen students to campus and can't wait to meet you at the event.

Early move-in: Thursday, August 13

As a part of the Summer Bridge Program, students who will be living on campus will get to move in early. Early move-in takes place Thursday, August 13, 2026, 6–8 p.m., so be sure you are ready!

Early move-in applies to you if both of the following are true:
  • You will be participating in Summer Bridge 2026.
  • You plan to live on campus at Chapman.

Parking information

This parking information pertains to day two of the Summer Bridge Program (Saturday, August 15, 2026). Day two is Parent/Family Day.

Parents and families can park in the Anderson Parking Structure. The Anderson Parking Structure is located under the football field, on Glassell and Walnut.

They’re here to help you during the Summer Bridge Program by answering your questions and sharing their experiences and guidance.

Braulio Campos Gil

  • Hometown: Long Beach, California.
  • Majors: Political Science and Economics.
  • Minors: Latinx and Latin American Studies and Leadership Studies.
  • On-campus involvement: La Unidad Latina, Lambda Upsilon Lambda Fraternity, Inc., Latinx Club, First Gen Ambassadors, United Greek Council, A.U.R.A (Aspire, Unity, Reform, Activism), First Generation and Promising Futures Program.
  • Fun Fact: I have 3 signed items by my favorite artists.

Gil Lopez Garcia

  • Hometown: Santa Ana, CA.
  • Major: B.S. in Environmental Science & Policy.
  • Minor: LGBTQ+ Studies.
  • on-campus involvement: La Unidad Latina, Lambda Upsilon Lambda Fraternity Incorporated (Multicultural org.), Schmid Student Success (SSS - Diversity), & the University Registrar's/Career Professional Development Internships Team (Work).
  • Fun Fact: I interned over the summer with NASA at Jet Propulsion Lab (JPL)!

Lara Ramirez

  • Hometown: San Jose, CA.
  • Major: Business Administration (Emphasis in Management).
  • Minor: Political Science.
  • On-campus involvement: Chapman Ambassadors Program, University Program Board (marketing), Delta Sigma Pi Professional Business Fraternity, InterVarsity Christian Fellowship.
  • Fun Fact: I am in the process of getting my Real Estate License.

Rusty Henry

  • Hometown: Garden Grove, CA.
  • Major: Liberal Studies.
  • Minor: Elementary Education.
  • On-campus involvement: Kappa Delta Pi Education Honor Society, Students Demand Action, Office of First Generation and Promising Futures.
  • Fun Fact: I have thirteen siblings!

Valeria Bahena

  • Hometown: Santa Ana, CA.
  • Major: Liberal Studies.
  • Minor: Elementary Education.
  • On-campus involvement: California Teachers Association Aspiring Educators at Chapman University.
  • Fun Fact: I'm a mother of three kids and a bearded dragon.

Saturday, August 15 (8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m.): Students and families welcome.
Sunday, August 16 (9 a.m.–4:30 p.m.): Students only.
