I earned both my B.A. and M.A. in American Studies from Cal State Fullerton where I also worked as an academic advisor prior to joining Chapman University in late 2007. My primary duties at Chapman are related to testing, dismissal advising, and to assist students with meeting all of their requirements so that they may graduate in a timely manner. Outside of advising I am interested in US cultural history and the built environment and may one day pursue a Ph.D. in order to study these things further. For the time being, however, I find great pleasure in reading, writing, photography, cycling and drinking coffee.

Hi Panthers! I grew up in the City of Orange so I am THRILLED to be a part of the Chapman family. I attended UCLA as a transfer student from Irvine Valley College and graduated in 2019 with a B.A. in Sociology. During my time at UCLA, I worked as a New Student Advisor for incoming first-years and transfers attending orientation. I have a passion to guide students to success and I plan to pursue a Master’s degree to further my experience in Higher Education. I’ve always valued education because of the educators that fully supported me throughout my life and the opportunities I was able to experience. Outside of work, I love going to the beach, hiking, photography, playing guitar, painting, eating Hot Cheetos, and rewatching episodes of Friends.

I am very excited to be at Chapman University! I grew up in Southern California where I graduated twice from California State University, Long Beach. The first time I received my Bachelor of Arts in Recreation, which led me to a brief career as a Forest Ranger. After a few years, I went back to CSULB and graduated with a Master of Science in Counseling, with my program emphasis in Student Development in Higher Education. Prior to coming to Chapman, I was a Career Center Advisor at California State University, Fullerton. I am passionate about serving others and assisting students with their journey in higher education. In my leisure time, I enjoy playing basketball, camping, traveling and spending time with family.

Nicole Nungaray

Academic Advisor
Specialist advisor for all Crean College of Health and Behavioral Sciences majors
nungaray@chapman.edu

After graduating from Chapman with a B.S. in Kinesiology in the Spring of 2018, I couldn’t stay away and began my journey as an academic advisor the beginning of 2019. As a student, I was involved in Promising Futures, Greek Life, LatinX, YoungLife, Chapman Radio, the Chapman Diversity Project, and I also worked as a tour guide. My passion for assisting students stemmed from trying to navigate my own college experience as a first-generation college student and all the support I received while doing so. I had no idea what type of impact my Chapman experience would have on me, and I’m looking forward to supporting and seeing students through their own unique journeys! Outside of advising, I enjoy listening to a wide variety of music, writing poetry, eating spicy foods, making people laugh, the color pink, and cuddling with my precious pup, Marley.
