Peer Tutoring

Tutors are Chapman University students who have excelled in the courses they tutor. Please read TLC's Policies and Procedures to know what to expect from a tutoring session. Location of Tutors may vary.  When scheduling an appointment you will receive a confirmation with the location of the Tutor.  Make sure to check it. Should you have any questions, please contact us at tutor@chapman.edu.

Students may schedule an appointment, walk-in, or view course availability.

Tutoring starts Monday, February 9, 2026 for the spring semester.

Policies and Procedures

All students wishing to receive tutoring services must adhere to the following policies and procedures.

  • Check-in with assistant at front desk
  • Be prepared to discuss content in which help is needed.
  • Attempt all assigned work before meeting with a tutor and have specific questions ready to ask the tutor.
  • Come prepared with all necessary materials (text, notes, dictionary, calculator, pencil, paper, etc.)
  • Attend class on a regular basis. Tutoring is not a substitute for regular class attendance.
  • Tutors are not to do homework, assist with take home exam/quizzes, or teach.
  • Complete requested evaluations/surveys for the TLC.
  • No food or drink in DeMille 160P. Closed water bottle okay. Remember to take it with you when you leave.

Tutoring Appointment Policy

Please read and follow TLC policy below when scheduling an appointment, otherwise, it may be cancelled.

  • Students may schedule one 30-minute appointment per day and up two per week for each course assistance is needed.  
  • Students who are late 15 minutes or more to their appointment, may need to wait for an available tutor or reschedule. 
  • Remember to cancel your appointment if you cannot make it. Students who do not show up to two appointments will not be able to schedule any further appointments. They will be able to come in as walk-in.    
  • If appointment limit has been reached, tutoring may be sought as a walk-in.
  • Students may meet in a small group (2-3 students) if all are in agreement.
  • Appointments are limited to 30 minutes if another student is waiting.
