Here are the most important things to know about applying to housing at Chapman as
a first-year student:
- First-year students are required to live on campus unless they live within 30 miles of campus with a relative.
- If you are looking to live off campus, you must submit a Petition to Live Off Campus form. See below for details.
- First year students are placed in first-year Living Learning communities. See below for more details.
- Students who deferred from a previous term must complete a new housing application
for the term they are entering Chapman.
Living-Learning Communities
Residence hall assignments for first-year students are based on their academic program (Fenestra Living-Learning Communities). Individual rooming assignments are based on the living preference questions in the online housing application.
Fenestra Living-Learning Communities help first-year students forge connections with peers, faculty and the university. They also encourage students to engage in interdisciplinary, university-level critical inquiry and reflection.
