F-1 students are required to report to Chapman University after they arrive in the U.S. within 30 days of their program start date. Failure to comply will result in termination of their F-1 status.
Immigration check-in can only be submitted after your entry to the U.S. It cannot be done while abroad.
Transfer students from another U.S. institution who are not traveling outside of the U.S. may submit Immigration Check-In upon receiving the new Chapman form I-20.
Check-in steps
Step 1: Update your Chapman Student Center Profile
Login to your Student Center to update or provide:
- U.S. physical/mailing address
- U.S. telephone number
- Contacts
Step 2: Submit your immigration documents
Use our Immigration Check-in Form to submit:
- Your most recent I-94 record as a pdf or jpg file.
- Your signed copy of your new Chapman form I-20
Upon completing this form, your SEVIS record will be registered as 'active'. You will then be able to use your new Chapman form I-20 to apply for a driver license.
Note: If you are offered on-campus employment, you will not be able to start until your SEVIS record is registered.
Common errors to avoid
- Unacceptable documentation: small, blurry, incomplete, or incorrect U.S. contact information
- Unsigned form I-20 (page 1).
You will be notified to re-submit documents if necessary. If you do not complete this check-in process, you may be disenrolled from courses.
