Spring Transfer Registration Steps

» Spring 2023 Transfer Registration Steps

The steps below are for transfer students entering Chapman in Spring 2023. If you will be entering Chapman as a first-year student in spring 2023, or will be transferring to Chapman in a semester other than spring 2023, see your respective registration steps:

Ready to start preparing for registration at Chapman University? These steps will walk you through everything you need to do in order to receive academic advising and to register for classes. 

Step 1: Prepare for Advising

If you have any questions on the following steps please feel free to contact the Office of Admission at (714) 997-6711 or transfers@chapman.edu.

1.1: Submit your enrollment deposit

Submit your enrollment deposit on your Application Status Page. Please allow up to 48 hours for us to process your enrollment deposit once we receive it.

1.2: Set up your Chapman email

The Academic Advising Center will always use your Chapman University email for official communications. If you haven’t set up your Chapman email yet, visit the PantherMail webpage to create your account. When emailing anyone at Chapman University, also be sure to use your Chapman email address.

1.3: Submit your transcripts

Before you can register, you need to submit your final transcripts from all colleges you have attended (including any you attended while still in high school) through the end of Summer 2022.

Once your Fall 2022 grades are posted, you will need to send those official transcripts as well. But don't wait for your fall grades grades to be posted to send us your transcripts. The earlier we receive your transcripts, the quicker we will be able to process them, so send us everything through Summer 2022, and then send us Fall 2022 transcripts separately once you have them.

To submit your transcripts, contact all the colleges you've attended and ask them to send your final transcript (or, for international institutions, your diploma or leaving exams) to the Office of Admission:

We also accept online submissions at admtranscript@chapman.edu as long as the documents come directly from your school’s registrar or counseling office.

You can also check which Chapman classes your credits will count towards when you transfer on your Transfer Credit Report. You can review your Transfer Credit Report in your Chapman Student Center. The following video explains how:

1.4: Submit your AP/IB test scores

Submit your official AP (Advanced Placement) or IB (International Baccalaureate) test results directly from the testing agency.

We only accept scores from the official testing agencies, so make sure you use these links to submit your scores:

You can review the AP and IB test scores that are accepted by Chapman on the Advanced Placement and the International Baccalaureate webpages.  

Once you send us your test scores and we process them, you can see which Chapman classes your AP and IB credits are counting towards on your Transfer Credit Report in your Chapman Student Center.

Step 2: Complete Academic Advising

Please be sure that you have completed all of Step 1 before continuing.

2.1: Complete Academic Advising Tutorial

Before you can register for classes, you have to complete your New Transfer Student Academic Advising Tutorial. Access the Academic Advising New Transfer Student Tutorial HERE!

  • The online tutorial will show you how to navigate your student center, review your program evaluation, register for classes and figure out which classes to take.
  • Completing the tutorial will also remove the Academic Advising Hold on your account. If you've logged in to your Chapman Student Center, you’ve probably noticed an “Academic Advising Hold” that prevents you from registering for classes. Completing the tutorial removes the hold, allowing you to register for classes on your assigned registration date (which we will post to your Chapman Student Center in December).
  • When you are ready, complete your Academic Advising Tutorial. Don’t forget to finish the "final exam" at the end. You can't remove your hold without completing the exam.
  • Please allow 24 hours for your Academic Advising Hold to be lifted off your account after you complete the online tutorial. 

2.2: Schedule advising appointments

Next, schedule your two advising appointments (Academic Advising and Program Advising). These appointments are optional, but we strongly recommend that you schedule them as they will help you figure out which classes to take.

Your Academic Advising appointment will help you understand your overall degree requirements.

To schedule your Academic Advising appointment, fill out the New Student Appointment Request Form (link available when you receive your confirmation that you completed the tutorial) to make an appointment with an academic advisor. Once you submit the form, we will send you an email to your Chapman email account within 1-3 business days either to schedule your appointment or to ask you for further information (if needed).

Program Advising appointment
Your Program Advising appointment will help you understand degree requirements specific to your major.

To schedule your Program Advising appointment, contact the program advisor within your academic department. Program advisors are not located in the Academic Advising Center, so you will need to contact them directly with the link above.

Step 3: Registering for Classes

3.1: Prepare to register

Once you have completed your Academic Advising Tutorial, it’s time to prepare for registration. Here's what you need to know about registering:

  • You can begin registering for classes at your specific registration date and time. You will not be able to register for classes before this date and time. 
  • In December 2022, we will post your exact registration date and time in your Chapman Student Center in the “Enrollment Dates” box. Your date and time is assigned randomly and cannot be changed.

  • All registration dates and times are in Pacific Time. 

In the meantime, here are some steps you can take to make registering easier when your registration date and time arrives:

3.2: Register for classes

When your registration date and time arrive, log in to your Chapman Student Center and register for the classes that you have added to your shopping cart.
