Edson Cruz is Instructional Assistant Professor of Sociology. His areas of expertise are Culture, Family, Gender, Inequality, Theory, and Qualitative Methods. He uses active learning strategies in the classroom to encourage students to interpret their own lives using the academic concepts from their courses, extending the learning experience to outside of the classroom and facilitating the process of learning from their peers. His research involves time-use patterns, meanings, and consequences. He currently explores how family members cope with daily rhythms of busyness, deploying moral cultures of time-use to coordinate meaningful configurations of work, family, and leisure in everyday life.
