- First-year students will take University 101 during their first semester at Chapman.
- Those entering Chapman in the fall will be pre-registered into University 101.
- It is a 1-credit course (50 minutes of class time per week).
- All students take the course for a letter grade.
University 101 learning goals
One of the exciting parts about being undeclared is you are encouraged to learn about various academic areas at Chapman. University 101 will help you learn about Chapman's departments and schools/colleges, which collectively support you on your academic journey.
To facilitate this process, the class is collectively taught by our academic advising team. At Chapman, every school/college has dedicated advisors. In the classroom, these advisors will be able to provide insight on the various opportunities in their school/college (majors, classes, internships, studying abroad, etc.).
By the end of the course, we expect all students to:
- Be familiar with the various academic areas and opportunities at Chapman.
- Have a good idea of their own academic interests and goals, and which major(s) might align with those.
- Know which departments and staff can support them as they continue exploring their academic options as Chapman.
