If you would like to be considered for need-based aid at Chapman, you will you need to submit both the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and CSS Profile.
To help us include all eligible need-based aid in your financial aid package, first-year applicants should submit their FAFSA and CSS Profile by:
- November 15 for Early Action and Early Decision I applicants.
- February 1 for Early Decision II and Regular Decision applicants.
Transfer students should ensure they are submitting these for the correct academic year and as soon as possible.
Submitting your FAFSA Form
The FAFSA is a free, online form that will help you determine if you are eligible for federal student aid. This includes grants, work study and low-interest loans, as well as potentially school and state aid.
To prepare to submit your FAFSA:
- Create your StudentAid.gov account.
- If your parent(s)/legal guardian(s) need to contribute to your form (and in most cases they will), they'll need to create their own StudentAid.gov account as a contributor.

Note that only U.S. citizens and eligible non-citizens (including permanent residents) are eligible to submit a FAFSA.
Submitting your CSS Profile
The CSS Profile is an online application from College Board that helps Chapman determine your eligibility for institutional need-based aid. While the FAFSA determines your eligibility for federal and state aid, the CSS Profile gives us a fuller picture of your family's finances so we can award Chapman's own need-based funds. Both the FAFSA and CSS Profile are required if you want to be considered for need-based aid at Chapman.
To prepare to submit the CSS Profile:
- Sign in or create an account on the College Board website. If you took the SAT or an AP exam, use your existing College Board account.
- Gather your family's tax returns, W-2s, records of untaxed income and information about assets. Like the FAFSA, the CSS Profile uses prior year's tax information.
There is a fee to submit the CSS Profile. If you qualify for a fee waiver, College Board applies it automatically based on the information in your application, so there's nothing extra for you to submit.

- You will need to re-submit your FAFSA every year you expect to continue receiving financial aid.
- When submitting your FAFSA, use an email you will check regularly and continue to check while in college.
