»Sapere Aude
Sapere Aude is an online publication created by and for the students of Chapman University’s
Honors Program. Our journal showcases and celebrates students’ unique talents across
the boundaries of discipline — encouraging students to engage with a biannual theme
selected by the student-run staff, which encapsulates an idea we consider significant
and relevant to the Honors student body. Sapere Aude accepts work that responds to
the theme of the current issue — whether that work is non-fiction, creative non-fiction,
short stories, essays, poetry, plays, screenplays, paintings, drawings, sculptures,
music, dance, film, photography, fashion, etc.
We encourage thematic and stylistic risk-taking and experimentation by thinking outside
disciplinary “boxes” and by fostering collaboration between media and fields of study.
Those that are selected to be published, in addition to the prestige that comes with
publication experience, are given the opportunity to present their work in a space
before their peers and contribute to the greater ambition of interdisciplinarity that
our Honors Program values as its core philosophy. This publication celebrates the
innovative and avant-garde spirit of our Honors Program and the academic and artistic
excellence of its student contributors. As our motto encourages — ‘dare to know’.
