» Graduate Writing Assistants

Graduate Writing Assistants (GWAs), supported by the Office of Graduate Education and the English Department’s Writing Center, are available for all Chapman University graduate students to assist with the research and writing process. Graduate writing assistants are available on both the Rinker campus (summer/fall/spring trimesters) and on the Orange campus (fall/spring semesters).

The GWAs are available to graduate students to assist with tutoring in research and writing, focusing on both the rhetorical and technical conventions of scholarly and creative writing in specific disciplines, from the physical and health sciences to screenwriting. The tutors are also trained to help graduate students during their completion of substantial graduate program writing requirements, such as research papers, articles for publication, theses, and dissertations. GWAs can help with style guide formatting, issues related to English as a secondary language, and utilizing the library’s resources for research.

GWAs are available for either 30-minute or 50-minute sessions on a walk-in basis. Rinker GWAs are located in the Student Commons in the 9401 building, and Orange GWAs are located in the Writing Center in DeMille Hall.
