Biography

Dr. Joern Kleinhans, CFA, joined Chapman University as Assistant Professor of Strategy and Entrepreneurship after receiving a PhD in Strategic Management from the University of California, Irvine. Prior academic background includes degrees in Finance and Mathematics.

His academic research interest is the field of high-end wines, in connection to the effects of firm reputation & status.

Dr. Kleinhans is a former Fulbright scholar in the Germany/USA exchange program, and worked as a VP-level investment analyst and bond portfolio manager for PIMCO, INVESCO and KPMG before changing interests to research in business management, wine, and related entrepreneurship projects.

While working in the investment management industry, he completed the CFA and FRM programs, and more recently received several sommelier and wine specialist designations. He is also a candidate in the Master of Wine program. The Master of Wine (MW) title is the most acclaimed qualification in the world of wine.

For several years Dr. Kleinhans was involved with the American Red Cross as vice chairman of the board in Southern California, as well as the president of the Fulbright Association of Greater Los Angeles.
