» Musical Theatre Minor

Now Accepting Applications

The College of Performing Arts offers one interdisciplinary minor in musical theatre. The musical theatre minor is designed to give students an understanding of the function of the various elements of musical theatre production. Demanding, rigorous training is offered, with a focus on performance. Dance candidates will take classes in music and theatre, music candidates will take classes in dance and theatre, and theatre candidates will take classes in music and dance. A non-dance, music, or theatre major will take courses in all three areas.

+ - Admission Process for the Musical Theatre Minor

All enrolled students at Chapman University are eligible to apply for this minor.

To begin the admission process for the musical theatre minor program, contact Dr. Louise Thomas, associate dean, academic affairs in the College of Performing Arts, to determine the possibility of completing the requirements for the minor in time to graduate.

Auditions for the minor take place at the end of the spring semester of the first year of study or upon entry to a CoPA program if a transfer student. This audition is conducted by faculty from the three disciplines (dance, music, and theatre) in the College of Performing Arts and entails a thorough review of the student’s background in musical theatre and aptitude either as a dancer, musician, or actor.
