Dear Chapman Community,
I am so happy that you have chosen Chapman University to pursue your educational goals. I joined Chapman in the Fall of 2017 as the Deputy Chief. As your Chief, I make the commitment to maintain public trust while partnering with the community to make Chapman University the safest campus in Orange County. It is important to understand that keeping a community safe is a partnership in which everyone's participation is critical to the mission. The Department of Public Safety is very responsive and helpful to the needs of the campus community. They are highly trained professionals that provide the highest level of service and professionalism in the performance of their duties.
Because we are in an urban environment, we recommend that you take the same universal basic safety precautions that you would take in any large city.
Remember to:
- always lock your doors
- do not leave personal property unattended
- do not walk alone after hours
- call public safety if you see something suspicious / trust your instincts
- always feel free to take advantage of the programs and services that we offer
The Public Safety Department, also known as “Psafe”, conducts 24-hour patrol of the University using vehicles, bicycles, and foot patrol. We also offer the Safe Ride & Safe Walk programs, which are student staffed safety escorts services. Always be aware of your surroundings and help us keep other Panthers safe.
