» Panther for a Day - Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between Panther for a Day and the Guided Admitted Student Tour?
The Panther for a Day Program includes:
- 60-minute walking tour of campus & residence halls led by a current student.
- A complimentary meal with current & other admitted students in our dining hall.
- The opportunity to hear from a current student panel or visit your academic department (pending department availability).
The Guided Admitted Student Tour includes:
- 90-minute walking tour of campus & residence halls led by a current student.
- A brief presentation about the admitted class and Chapman University
- A panel discussion (Q&A) with current Chapman students.
Although both are great ways to explore Chapman, there are some distinct differences: Panther for a Day is generally a solo experience for the student. If you choose to attend the student panel, your family can join for that portion (at 2 p.m.) but the tour, lunch and department visit option are solely for the student. The Admitted Student Tour allows for students to attend with parents and family members.
Additionally, Panther for a Day is offered only on select weekdays, while Admitted Students tours are offered more frequently (weekdays at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.).
I’m interested in attending both a student panel and visiting my department. Can I do both?
Panther for a Day only allows for a selection of one or the other. However, if you are interested in attending both, we recommend you:
- Select to visit your department as a part of Panther for Day (pending department availability).
- Register for a 10 a.m. Admitted Student Tour that is offered on the same day of your visit.
You would then join the student panel portion (10-10:30 a.m.) of that 10 a.m. tour prior to starting your Panther for a Day programing at 11:30 a.m. Please note you will have a gap in your day from 10:30-11:30 a.m.
Who is able to participate in Panther for a Day?
The Panther for a Day program is for first-year students admitted to the upcoming fall or spring semesters. It is an independent experience for admitted students, designed to provide a day in the life of a Chapman student. See below for recommendations on how visiting members of your family can spend their time while you participate in Panther for a Day.
Admitted transfer students should visit the Admitted Student Website to learn more about our Admitted Transfer Sessions. Or you're also welcome to contact our Transfer Team at transfers@chapman.edu to inquire about in-person and virtual visit opportunities for transfers.
I have family visiting with me, what should they do while I participate in Panther for a Day?
The Panther for a Day program is for admitted first-year students only. However, there are plenty of options for family members to make the most of their time at Chapman during their visit. You can visit our Panther for a Day - Parent & Family Opportunities page for more details.
Where do I check in?
Upon arrival, please check in at the Pankey Visitor Center, located within the first floor main lobby of Argyros Forum (you can use the link for walking directions).
Please do not report directly to your department. Please arrive at the Pankey Visitor Center, you will meet up with the Panther for a Day group there and be directed (and when possible, escorted) to the various Panther for a Day programming locations on campus.
What time should I arrive for Panther for a Day?
Panther for a Day programming begins at 11:30 a.m. We recommend you arrive 20-25 minutes early to allow for parking and arrival.
I’ve visited campus before, do I need to attend the tour portion of Panther for a Day?
You don’t need to, but we recommend it. The Panther for a Day tour is our most personalized tour available. It is a small group of solely admitted students and provides a peer-to-peer experience.
In addition, our tours are all led by current students and the other members of your tour group might be your future classmates!
If you do not plan on attending the tour, please contact us at visit@chapman.edu so we can plan accordingly. Note that your visit may feel a bit segmented as the tour group typically departs together and then concludes at the dining hall for lunch.
Panther for a Day is full. What should I do now?
If Panther for a Day is full or not being offered on the day you wish to visit, we invite you to register for a Guided Admitted Student Tour.
The Panther for a Day program is unable to offer a waitlist, but you are welcome to continue to visit the Panther for a Day registration webpage as registration would become available in the event of a cancellation. It’s designed specially for admitted students and can provide unique insight on life as a student at Chapman.
Do you offer a complimentary meal card for admitted students who can’t join Panther for a Day?
Yes we do. Admitted students who are unable to participate in Panther for a Day but are joining us for a Guided Admitted Student Tour are welcome to dine at the Randall Dining Commons (we call it The Caf) with their guests.
To save time, and allow for us to have a complimentary meal card prepared on the date of your visit, please contact us at visit@chapman.edu to alert us of your visit and dining plans.
Can I join Panther for a Day as a waitlisted student?
Unfortunately, no. Due to limited availability, the Panther for a Day program is only available to first-year students admitted to the upcoming fall or spring semesters.
We do however still encourage you to visit campus! Please register for a campus tour. If it’s your first time to campus we suggest you attend the prospective student campus tour. If it’s a return trip, please let us know upon check-in and we can place you on our admitted student tour for a different visit experience (pending availability).
