» Programs

First-Generation Programs are open to all first-generation undergraduate students and are designed to support the engagement, retention and sense of community for first-generation students. Below are some of the programs we offer:

Promising Futures Program

The Promising Futures Program is our flagship program and offers monthly workshops, weekly study sessions, and social events, among other activities. Please see our events page for a list of upcoming programs. You can also sign up for our newsletter or follow us on Instagram for updates on our events.

Summer Bridge Program

This program is a three-day orientation that is designed to support your transition to the university and introduce you to the larger first-generation community. The program involves workshops from campus support services, insight and tips from current first-gen students, community-building activities, and lots of fun. Registration for the 2020 Summer Bridge Program is now closed.

First-Gen Homecoming

As part of Chapman University’s annual Homecoming Celebration, we invite all of our first-generation alumni, current students, and their families back to campus for a special first-gen celebration. We are currently in the process of developing a Chapman first-generation alumni network.

First-Gen Graduation

This graduation ceremony is open to graduating first-gen students, their families and the larger Chapman first-gen community. This important event is an opportunity to reflect and celebrate your journey and success as a first-gen college student.

We CU! Mentorship Program

The We CU! Mentorship Program is designed to help first-generation students at Chapman make connections with mentors on campus. Mentoring is important and has shown to help first-gen students learn and navigate the university. Mentors can also help support your academic and professional goals. You have the ability to choose student, staff or faculty first-gen mentors who are eager to support you wherever you may find yourself in your college journey.

Sign up for the Fall 2020 semester We CU! Mentorship Program. Applications are due by September 18, 2020 by 5:00pm.

The We CU! Mentorship Program is a collaborative initiative between First-Generation Programs, the Cross Cultural Center, and the Office of Residence Life and First Year Experience. For more questions email
