Biography

Fabian Wendt (Ph.D., Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich; M.A. in Political Science and Philosophy, University of Regensburg) is Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Smith Center for Economics and Philosophy and Lecturer in Philosophy. His work focuses primarily on political philosophy, and he has written on compromises and peace, modus vivendi and realism, public justification and public reason liberalism, libertarianism and private property, political authority and legitimacy, and republican vs. negative conceptions of freedom. Dr. Wendt is author of Compromise, Peace and Public Justification: Political Morality beyond Justice (Palgrave Macmillan 2016). His paper, “Rescuing Public Justification from Public Reason Liberalism,” won the 2017 Sanders Prize in Political Philosophy. Dr. Wendt teaches courses in political philosophy.
