Prior to joining Chapman University’s Lawrence and Kristina Dodge College of Film and Media Studies, Angela Paura was Co-President of Worldwide Marketing for Alcon Entertainment, the Los Angeles based wholly independent production company that develops, finances, produces, and markets theatrical motion pictures and television programming.
Angela is a passionate, dedicated, and energetic marketing executive with a commitment to high standards and an entrepreneurial spirit. She has proven over the years to be one of the industry’s leading marketing executives adept at solving challenging problems with creative solutions in all areas of film marketing, public relations, social media and interactive marketing, promotions, strategic partnerships, and media buying. As well, Angela has provided marketing consulting expertise to Image Nation in the United Arab Emirates, and is well versed in movie marketing in Europe and Asia.
At Alcon, Angela spearheaded the company’s film and television marketing campaigns, developing key strategies that combined traditional marketing techniques with innovative digital tactics to target the broadest spectrum of consumers. While at Alcon, she shaped the marketing campaigns for projects including the theatrical Blade Runner sequel Blade Runner 2049, starring Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford, 12 Strong starring Chris Hemsworth, and the Hugo Award winning hit television series The Expanse, which will enter its fourth season. Before her role as Co-President of Worldwide Marketing, Angela collaborated closely with Alcon on marketing The Blind Side, Prisoners, The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants films, Dolphin Tale and Racing Stripes, among others.
From 2003 until she joined Alcon, Angela was President and Chief Operating Office at Capstone Global Marketing & Research Group, Inc., a full-service entertainment marketing consultancy and research firm with key industry relationships, where she created and generated innovative solutions to challenging film marketing problems. She consulted on many high profile and Academy Award winning and nominated films including The Help, Lincoln, Inception, Les Miserables, Zero Dark Thirty, Captain Phillips, Hairspray, Mamma Mia!, Sex and the City, The Social Network and American Hustle, among others. In addition, Angela worked closely with Sony Pictures Entertainment to successfully reposition the Bond franchise.
Between 1996 and 2003, Angela was Chief Operating Officer of The National Research Group, Inc. (NRG). NRG, the influential company now owned by the Stagwell Group, which was for many years the film industry’s leading marketing consulting and market research organization.
Angela is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and she’s an avid thinker and reader. She is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of New York’s Marymount Manhattan College and earned her MBA at Harvard University.
