Admission Counselor
Mateo's bio
Mateo graduated from Chapman University in 2020 with a BS in Biological Sciences. During his time at Chapman, Mateo was involved in Greek Life, student research and acappella, and worked as a tour guide in the Office of Admission. Born and raised in San Jose, he is a very big 49ers and Sharks fan. Outside of work, he loves to surf and make music!
Advice from Mateo
Have fun with the application process, and don’t be afraid to share your personality in your essays/ responses! Also, maybe don’t spend 3 days trying to figure out “what song should the admission team listen to when reading your application”... I did too much overthinking with that one… have fun with it!
Favorite spot on campus
Literally anywhere in the Keck Center! There are so many study spaces in Keck that students can use, and I love how Keck is designed to be such a collaborative study space for students. I especially love the 3rd floor, which overlooks Wilson Field and the Disneyland fireworks at night!
Best admission memory
I really loved giving a campus tour to my alma mater and reconnecting with my college guidance counselor, who helped me so much through the college application process!
