Students will expand their knowledge of the “12 principles of animation” (as developed by the Walt Disney studios in the late 1930’s) and learn advanced techniques and principles by industry professionals, using industry standard animation equipment such as animation light tables, line test software and down shooter cameras. We will create a studio-like environment where students will learn how to collaborate with a creative and production crew, keep to a production schedule, meet tight deadlines, and make controlled creative decisions.

Course Goals

Students work in teams to create every necessary stage of animation production to complete a short film. Each team will be responsible for the following; developing the concept, storyboarding, character design, concept art, layout, background paintings, animation and post production (sound, editing, voice, ink and paint etc.).

The cost of the program is $3,000 for the two weeks. This includes housing in the dorms, all meals in cafeteria, field trips and all equipment used for the program. Travel plans are not included in the cost. (It is required for all students to stay overnight on campus for this program).
