New Opportunity for Emerging Supervisors

Emerging supervisors have the opportunity to participate in the Supervisor Development Series. This offer is ideal for informal supervisors of staff, supervisors of student employees, and those in a development pipeline to become supervisors. The Chapman Cultural Essentials Series (CES) is four unique workshops focused on Leadership, Care, Service, and Relationships, where you will learn how to shape, influence, and enhance your employee experience and create an environment where we all engage, achieve, and belong.

Each workshop is approximately four hours long.
Enrolling in the Influential Leadership workshop first is recommended but not required before attending the other three workshops.
Participants don’t need to enroll in all four workshops at once to start the series.
Before enrolling, please confirm your participation with your supervisors.
Enrollment is open for supervisors of staff, supervisors of administrators, and all regular staff and administrators.
Upon completion of the series, participants will receive a certificate of achievement through Learn365 and a CES name badge via email for their Outlook signature.
Participants who complete the series within 12 months may select from an exclusive CES travel mug or notebook.

Theworkshops will be held in the HR Training Room, DeMille Hall #130.Rinker campus workshops will be scheduled based on classroom availability.

Workshops begin promptly at 8:30 am at the Orange campus. Workshop start time at Rinker is at 12:30 pm. Out of respect for your fellow learners, we ask that you arrive early to get situated and ready to participate by the start of the workshop.

Each workshop has two 5 to 10-minute breaks.

You will not need your laptop during the workshop. However, to ensure you can access the online workshop assessment, we ask that you bring your cell phone for this purpose but refrain from using it at any other point when the workshop is in session.

Participants will move around during the workshops, so bring only the essentials and your cell phone to complete the workshop assessment. We will provide a light breakfast and all other needed materials.

Due to the highly interactive nature of the workshop, we ask that you set aside time to attend the entire workshop to get credit.

Due to limited space and to accommodate waitlisted employees, please unenroll if you cannot attend as soon as you become aware, ideally by five business days before your workshop. If you need assistance unenrolling, please refer to the Enroll/Unenroll Tutorial link on the Cultural Essentials Series website.

You will be placed on a waiting list in the learning management system and will be automatically enrolled in the workshop if a seat opens for the date you selected. You will also receive an email confirmation and an Outlook invitation to the workshop.

We recommend that you complete the series within 365 days. However, you may complete the workshop at your pace based on your availability.

The Cultural Essentials Series is open to supervisors of staff, supervisors of administrators, and all regular staff and administrators.

The workshops are offered in person only due to the highly interactive nature of the workshop design.

Due to the highly interactive nature of the workshops, a minimum of 10 participants is required. If the minimum isn’t reached, the workshop will be canceled, and registrants will be notified. You can then enroll for the same workshop on another available date.

We strongly encourage you to complete the entire Cultural Essentials Series, as it is an excellent opportunity to develop your professional skills, network with other employees on campus and be an integral part of enhancing the employee experience at the university.
