Jennie earned a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from California State University, Fullerton, where she has worked as an Environmental Health and Safety Hazmat Technician. She also hold an Associate Safety Professional (ASP) designation. She has a diverse background in occupational and industrial safety and assists the Vice President of Enterprise Risk and Safety in overseeing all functions of EH&S at both the Orange and Rinker campus.

Karen has a baccalaureate degree from the University of California-Irvine (UCI) in Biological Sciences and Social Ecology. Karen brings to Chapman with several years of experience dealing with a broad range of issues in Environmental Health & Safety.

Dr. Sohaskey earned his Ph.D., Microbiology, University of Texas, Austin following his B.S., Microbiology, University of North Texas, Denton. Biosafety Officer for the University and Lab Safety Administrator for the Rinker Health Sciences Campus (RHSC). Since 1998 Dr. Sohaskey has worked as a Health Science Specialist and Principal Investigator engaged in Tuberculosis research with the U.S. Veterans Administration at the Veterans Administration (VA) Long Beach Healthcare System, Long Beach, CA. During his tenure at the VA, his responsibilities including operating and maintaining a BSL-3 laboratory, thus has a solid understanding of issues dealing with research safety for a high security and safety lab.
Dr. Sohaskey is the principle Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) professional responsible for supporting the success of RHSC laboratory safety management. Dr. Sohaskey will support the activities of the Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC), Science Safety Committee (SSC), and various subcommittees that support the colleges of science of the University. He will also serve as the key EH&S representative on the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) as well as the Institutional Review Board (IRB.)
