» Laboratory, Field Research, and Studio Safety

An important goal of Chapman University, in connection with the operation of laboratory, field research, studio and workshop environments, is to prevent accidents and cases of environment-related illness. Paramount to this goal is the implementation of practices to provide adequate control of health and safety risks arising from work and learning activities. We achieve this by providing a range of tools for users, including but not limited to a Chemical Hygiene, Biosafety and Radiation Safety programs. We also undertake relevant risk assessments, including site inspections to help identify and ensure action required to remove/control risks. We will periodically confirm that the implemented actions have removed/reduced the risks and will report the findings of the risk assessments to all relevant employees. We will review assessments annually or when the work activity changes, whichever is soonest.
