American Educational Research Association also created a SIG to foster inclusive education in schools. The Special and Inclusive Education Research Special Interest Group was created to "to promote and explore areas of educational research of interest to special and general educators, including individual differences, teaching strategies and issues related to learning and well-being. In particular, to promote the study of issues and practices related to the education of persons with disabilities" (aera.net). Dr. Meghan Cosier, TPI's Director, is currently serving as the Secretary / Treasurer for the SIG.
