Jill Borland, CRA

Jill brings a proven record of accomplishments and over 20 years of research administration and grant related experience that spans the entire lifecycle of sponsored activities, from funding opportunity identification to proposal submission through account closeout. Over the course of her career, she has worked in research administration positions at Brown University, QualityMetric Incorporated, Saint Joseph’s Health System and, most recently, as Associate Director at Georgia State University where she was responsible for the DHHS and NSF portfolios of proposals and awards.  Jill is a Certified Research Administrator (CRA), as well as a member of Society of Research Administrators (SRA) International and National Council of University Research Administrators (NCURA).

Megan has over 14 years of experience in human subjects research at UCI managing the administrative, logistical, and personnel components of large federally funded projects. In 2019, Megan joined Chapman University as the Sponsored Project Analyst for Crean College and has provided both pre- and post-award support to faculty based on her comprehensive knowledge of the entire research process from initial funding application through final study close-out. In her current role as Research Administrator, she provides assistance with budget preparation, proposal development, review, and submission, subaward and consultant contract preparation, and sponsor communications such as submission of progress reports, no-cost extension requests, etc. 

Morgan Sohrabian

Morgan’s career path has included over 25 years of experience in accounting, human resources, sales and real estate.  In addition, she is well versed in the fiscal requirements of federal, private, and non-profit sponsors.  As an SPS staff member, Morgan provides accounting review and financial expertise to the Chapman University faculty that she supports.

Molly has 18 years of research administration experience.  Before joining Chapman University, she was a departmental manager at UCI from 2000 to 2017.  There, Molly managed both the pre-award and post award functions for the Division of Infectious Disease.  That portfolio included extensive funding from the CDC, NIH, AHRQ, and DOD, as well as multiple clinical trials with various pharmaceutical companies.  In her current role in SPS, she supports her assigned faculty during the proposal process, including final review and submission of proposals on behalf of Chapman University, and is responsible for all non-financial post award actions such as no cost extension requests and progress report submission.  Molly is also a member of NCURA.

Shawn Scott

Shawn joined Chapman University after having spent 13 years managing all federal funding in Guam Department of Administration’s Division of Accounting where he oversaw all federal expenditures and draws for that organization.  During his time with Guam Department of Administration, Shawn also contributed to their overall process improvement and implementation in areas like proper record keeping and accurate payment and reporting processes.  Shawn will provide SPS financial post-award support to his assigned portfolio, as noted below.  This support will include expenditure review and approval, preparation and submission of financial reports, review and approval of invoices and federal funding draws, and various other duties involved in the financial oversight of sponsored activity.
