The Art alumni have gone on to do innovative things all over the United States and countries around the world. From grad school, to gallery representation, to teaching, curating, writing, and art making, they cover the spectrum of the art field. We do the best we can to keep up with them. 2011 - Present
Julie Russo: BA Studio Art 2014. Registrar at GAVLAK Los Angeles.
Lauren Potts ’15, Dylan Trumbull ’14, Hannah Karsen ‘12, and Sydney Snyder ’10: This group of alums (they call themselves the Patient Experience) just hosted an art show titled, Side Effects May Include Art, June 14 - June 20, 2015. The exhibition showcased the work of Patient Experience, a collective of artists each coping with their own illness. These artists have elected to channel their personal misfortune into a creative outlet. This inaugural show was a small survey of work by these artists, individually and independently produced.
Adam Ottke: BA Art, 2013. A few years ago Ottke began shooting Professor Lia Halloran's Dark Skate series. The project took them to Vienna to do a site-specific piece and to exhibit the first display of Dark Skate's "Passage" series. New, select pieces from "Passage" we're also shown at Paris Photo LA. In addition to that, he has been writing for the photography blog, Fstoppers.com.
Courtney Cardiff: BFA Studio Art 2012. Teacher at Christian Jr/Sr High School, teaching 7th-12th graders.
Maisey Cox: BFA Studio Art 2012. Intern at Art Cube, Laguna Beach from January 2011-May 2011. Intern at Annie Wharton Los Angeles, Los Angeles from September 2011-January 2012. Gallery Assistant at Pacific Gallery, Laguna Beach from May 2011-September 2012. Intern at Francois Ghebaly Gallery, Los Angeles from July 2011-July 2012. Worked at Samile Freeman in Los Angeles for a year where she was the Registrar and Gallery Assistant. She took care of all administrative tasks, exhibition preparation, and press documents. She also interacted with clients who came into the gallery and through their various outlets of online interaction. Maisey managed multiple databases that include artists, artworks and clients, negotiated consignments, as well as took care of shipping. She currently works at David Kordansky Gallery in Culver City, one of the top galleries in LA.
Hannah Kit Karsen: BFA Studio Art 2012. Hannah is currently in her first year of an MFA program in photography at UCR.
Andy Macasil: BFA Studio Art 2012. Andy is finishing his first year of graduate studies in art at Hunter College, NY.
Tyler Park: BFA Studio Art 2012. Internship with François Ghebaly Gallery in Los Angeles from October 2011-January 2013. Worked with artist Patrick Jackson on sculpture that was part of a show called "All cut up" and worked with artist Neil Beloufa on a film that was featured in the Hammer museum during summer 2012. Worked at Laguna Gallery of Contemporary art as a gallery associate from June 2012-September 2012. Worked as the Assistant Director at Carter & Citizen gallery in Los Angeles. At Carter & Citizen, he worked under Whitney Carter producing shows, serving as an artist liaison, working with collector/clients and museums in the purchasing of the work, and helping with all the daily functions of working at the gallery. Tyler is now working as Assistant Director at Francois Ghebaly gallery in downtown Los Angeles. Tylor and fellow alum and Director at Francois Ghebaly, Karisa Morante (BFA 2010) both traveled to Miami in December to represent Francois Ghebaly gallery at the NADA art fair during Art Week Miami.
Kellan Shanahan: BFA 2013. Kellan has received official representation from Julian Bermudez gallery in downtown Los Angeles. His first solo show will be in June, 2014.
Sarah Waldorf: BFA Studio Art 2012. Since receiving her BFA, Sarah Waldorf has interned at the Hammer Museum, the J. Paul Getty Trust, and TED. She is currently working as a coordinator for web and social media at the J. Paul Getty Trust in Los Angeles.
2006-2010
Karisa Morante: BA Art, 2008. Director, Ghebaly Gallery, Los Angeles. Been with gallery since 2009.
Arias Collins: BA Art, 2008. Private Sewing Instructor and and Seamstress in Orange County Area.
Christopher Richmond: BA, Film, Art Minor 2009. Traveled to Vienna to install a solo exhibition at Vienna's c17 Gallery. Took part in a show in New York at SOHO 20 Gallery called "Zapped Up Void", which featured his new 16mm film "Chasing the Horizon." Currently he is an audio/visual preparator at MOCA in Los Angeles and works as a studio assistant for Sharon Lockhart.
Karisa Morante: BA Art, Minor Spanish 2008. Was Assistant Director at Chung King Projects Gallery in Culver City. Is now working as Assistant Director at Francoise Ghebaly Gallery in Los Angeles. She traveled to Miami in 2010 to represent the gallery at the NADA international contemporary art fair.
Lamia Larkin: BFA Studio Art 2008. Editor in Chief of OC Arts & Culture magazine (an online magazine promoting the arts in the Orange County, CA area). She is also a contributing writer for Lost At E Minor. She was also a participant in the Sketchbook Project 2011. This December she will be curating an art show with Sophisticated United Network at Mesa Lounge showcasing local OC artists and musicians.
Stacia Stolzenberg: BA Art 2008, currently student at Claremont earning her PhD in applied developmental psychology.
Bonnie Hussey: BA Art 2009. Assistant Creative Director for Teach Town Inc., an educational software company.
Patricia Burns: BFA Studio Art 2009. Currently has artworks in the exhibition United Number One, at the Orange County Center for Contemporary Art. She has also worked as an artist assistant for Los Angeles based artist Rebba Niederlander, Rebecca Campbell and Katie Grinnan. Patricia has recently been offered a scholarship to attend the MFA Program in Sculpture at the Savannah School of Art and Design. She recently accepted an internship at the Smithsonian Institute, starting in January.
Lauren Zuchowski: BA Art History, 2009. Lauren was recently hired as the archivist at the Japanese American National Museum in downtown Los Angeles.
2000-2005
Colleen Collette: BFA Art, and BA Art History, 2004. After graduation, Colleen lived in Pont Aven, France, where she created art. Upon her return to the United States, she enrolled in a 1-year post-baccalaureate program at the San Francisco Art Institute in 2006. Colleen decided to continue her studies at SFAI, and received her MFA in Painting in 2009. Colleen is now working at SCAPE gallery in Newport Beach and teaching art classes to children. Her long term goal is to find a college level teaching position and continue making art.
Mario Correa: BFA Studio Art 2001. Received an MFA from California Institute of the Arts and has had five one-person exhibitions in Los Angeles and Germany as well as group exhibitions in New York and Los Angeles.
Jackie Bunge: BA Art History. She is the Education Curator at the Laguna Beach Art Museum
Morgan McElfresh: BFA Studio Art 2004. A tenured ceramics instructor at Saddleback High School, Santa Ana,CA.
1990-1999
Michael Reafsnyder: BFA Art 1990. Received an MFA from Art Center College of Art and Design and has had 15 one-person exhibitions in Los Angeles, New York, Singapore, Melbourne and Turin, among others. Michael has had over 40 group exhibitions of his work.
Eric Segel: BA Art 1990. Received an MFA from Cal State University, Fullerton. He is an artist and textile print designer.
Matthew Furmanski: BFA Art 1993. Currently an Associate Professor of Art at Cal State Channel Islands.
Monica Lowe: BFA Studio Art 1994. Received an MFA from Claremont Graduate University and is a practicing artist living in Portland Oregon.
Gabriel Remon: BA Art 1996. Received an MFA degree in painting from Cal State Long Beach and is a practicing artist in the Bay Area.
