After earning both his J.D. and his LL.M. in Entertainment and Media Law at Chapman, Darrell J. Greenwald put his legal and entrepreneurial skills to the test by founding the law firm, A.L.A. Law Group.
“I took nearly every entertainment class available,” said Greewald of his time at Chapman. “Professor Heller’s classes were invaluable in providing me with skills and knowledge to jump right into practicing entertainment transactions in the real world.”
Mr. Greenwald also gained real world experience while a student at Chapman by externing with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. He relates, “Not only did my legal externship provide me with skills I now use, it also provided me with certain knowledge, such as helpful books and practice guides that are now part of my legal library.”
For students interested in opening their own firm, Mr. Greenwald advises starting with a focused area of law, keeping overhead low, creating a network for referring work out from the beginning, and taking advantage of Ring Central, Dropbox and CLIO.
Having overcome many unexpected legal and business challenges on the away, Mr. Greenwald successfully founded A.L.A. Law Group, where he currently works with fellow Chapman Univeristy Fowler School of Law Alumnus Lauren M. Mayfield.
