Biography
Minju Kim joined Chapman’s faculty in 2025 as an Assistant Instructional Faculty member in the Department of Psychology within Crean College. She earned her PhD in Experimental Psychology from the University of California, San Diego, where she also completed her postdoctoral training in Educational Research and Teaching Development at the UCSD Teaching and Learning Commons.
At Chapman, Minju teaches Research Methods in the Behavioral Sciences and Cognitive Psychology. Minju’s pedagogical approach emphasizes student-centered learning, encouraging metacognitive reflections and growth-oriented mindset
As a researcher in developmental psychology, Minju investigates the cues that signal children’s early causal reasoning and language devleopment. Her work includes examining preschoolers’ use of gestures as a window into analogical transfer, as well as examining todder’s early vocabulary composition through the verbal and nonverbal input from caregivers. In the field of pedagogy, she is particularly interested in fostering self-regulated learning in students and cultivating communities of practice for faculty development and pedagogical wellness.
