Biography

Dr. Robert Tsai is a licensed Doctor of Physical Therapy based in California and the founder of DANCE|PREHAB Physical Therapy & Performance. Originally from Taipei, Taiwan, Rob received his undergraduate degrees in Communication Theory and Dance Performance before earning his Doctorate in Physical Therapy, both at Chapman University. Prior to his clinical career, Rob worked in the Los Angeles commercial dance industry.

As a physical therapist, Rob has supported dancers across all levels—from youth and pre-professional students to collegiate and professional artists performing in concert, commercial, and theme park settings. As an educator, he has shared his expertise through international dance medicine conferences and as a guest teacher at institutions such as The Juilliard School, NYU Tisch, Debbie Allen Dance Academy, School of American Ballet, American Ballet Theatre Gillespie School. At Chapman University, Rob has developed and taught courses focused on dancer health, training, and longevity.

At the core of his approach is the belief that healing and learning happen best through conversation, curiosity, and care for the whole person behind the dancer. Through both clinical practice and education, he blends science and artistry to help dancers build autonomy, resilience, and long-term trust in their bodies.
