Biography

Shawn Harpen, an adjunct professor of professional responsibility at Chapman Law School, has been serving business, legal, professional and non-profit organizations for more than two decades. As chief executive officer and founder of Px3 Legal Consulting Corporation in California, she advises clients in governance, policy development, litigation, and global regulatory and compliance matters. In addition, she is a member of the board of directors of Climate Reality Action Fund, as well as a member of the board of directors and chair of the Audit Committee of Starlight Children’s Foundation. Her diverse experience includes prior roles as chief legal officer and general counsel of Patrón Spirits International AG and The Patrón Spirits Company, a securities and complex commercial litigation partner of the international law firms of Jones Day and McDermott Will & Emery LLP, and chair of the state bar professional responsibility committees in both California and Nevada.

Professor Harpen is a certified director by the National Association of Corporate Directors. She serves as a member of the Local Rules Advisory Committee of the United States District Court for the Central District of California and the American Bar Association Standing Committee on Professional Regulation, and is a life fellow of the American Bar Foundation and a senior fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America. She is admitted to practice in California and before the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and several United States District Courts. In addition to Bachelor of Arts and Juris Doctor degrees from the University of Toledo, she has a Master of Liberal Arts in Sustainability from Harvard University Extension School and a Public Leadership Credential from Harvard University John F. Kennedy School of Government.
