Biography

Dr. Jake Bohrod is a dedicated film and media studies educator and critical post-humanist scholar who advocates for the theory-practice approach to media education.

Originally from southern Minnesota, Bohrod is a proud alumnus of his hometown school, Minnesota State University, Mankato, where he studied journalism and film. After living and teaching abroad, he attended USC where he received his master's degree in Critical Studies and his Ph.D. in Film & Media Studies.

Bohrod has taught at numerous Southern California institutions and top-ranked film schools, including Pitzer College, Columbia College Chicago, CSUN and Loyola Marymount University. His teaching and research meet at the boundary between emerging media and film studies, with key interests in virtual reality, interactive media, critical theory, and documentary.
