Biography

Kaitlin Peterson (JD/MBA ’16) teaches gaming law as an adjunct professor at the Fowler School of Law. She currently serves as Lead Counsel at Meta (formerly Facebook), a company that builds technologies that help people connect, find communities and grow businesses. She provides legal support for Meta’s Gaming and Instagram creator programs, esports tournaments, and entertainment content ideas.

Before working at Meta, Professor Peterson served as Counsel for Blizzard Entertainment a video game company in Irvine, where she drafted a wide range of agreements, including licenses, talent deals, service agreements, artist agreements, releases, non-disclosure agreements and manufacturing agreements. She also supported the operation of a large interactive developer and publisher by assisting with the management of intellectual property and producing research reports on emerging issues that impacted the interactive industry.

As a Chapman Fowler School of Law student, she enjoyed a wide variety of internship experiences in the sports and entertainment space, including as a Law Clerk for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, Law Clerk for the World Poker Tour, and Contract Specialist at Blizzard Entertainment.  

Peterson earned a joint degree at Chapman University, a J.D. cum laude with certificates in Entertainment Law and Business Law from Dale E. Fowler School of Law and an MBA from the Argyros School of Business. Kaitlin received her Bachelor of Arts from the University of California Santa Barbara in Philosophy.
