
Nicole Rangel
Biography
Professor Nicole Rangel is an international lawyer with over 15 years of experience advising on international criminal law, international human rights law, international humanitarian law, refugee law, and representing survivors of sexual and gender-based violence. She litigated allegations of war crimes, crimes against humanity, genocide, and terrorism on all sides of the aisle for numerous international criminal tribunals. She has investigated alleged human rights violations and international crimes on five continents with an emphasis on post conflict rule of law and accountability. Nicole has consulted for the United Nations, various international organizations, states, and rights holders. She authored articles on international criminal law and continues to lecture on intersections of peace and justice such as the case for Palestinian liberation, climate based grounds of asylum, ecocide, and utility of open source intelligence. While Nicole has lived and worked all over the globe, she remains resolute in her passion to foster the next generation of human rights advocates in her home state of California. In addition to her international legal and teaching career, Nicole provides pro bono representation to traditionally marginalized communities including migrants, minorities, women, and others fleeing persecution.
