Biography

Dr. Elizabeth D’Arrigo-Patrick, PhD, LMFT, is an Assistant Clinical Professor and Director of Clinical Training for the Marital and Family Therapy program in the Crean College of Health and Behavioral Sciences at Chapman University. She earned her Ph.D. in Marital and Family Therapy with a concentration in Medical Family Therapy from Loma Linda University, an M.A. in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University, and a B.A. in Psychology from Biola University.

Dr. Patrick’s scholarship and clinical expertise center on Medical Family Therapy, LGBTQIA+ affirmative practices, sociocultural attunement, and couple relationships navigating chronic illness. A widely published scholar and presenter, her research explores gender and sexual fluidity, trans* mental health, and the intersection of family systems with healthcare. Alongside her academic appointment, Dr. Patrick maintains an active clinical practice specializing in relational therapy for LGBTQIA+ individuals and families, while also providing clinical supervision to associate therapists and leading community workshops on cultural humility, stress management, and motivational interviewing.
