Biography
Dr. Sarah Petry is a mixed-methods demographer specializing in policy determinants of health and wellbeing across the life course. Her research investigates the impacts of state-level health and social policies on health inequities from birth until death, particularly for marginalized populations in the US. Much of her research focuses on older adults, sexual minority groups, and veterans.
Dr. Petry’s research is informed by multiple approaches across biological and social sciences. She draws on intersectionality and life course theories, along with social epidemiology, psychology, and medical sociology. Her current program of research includes two main themes: (1) health insurance coverage and population health, and (2) state-level policy context and health.
