Michael Weiss

Screenwriter Michael Weiss’ extensive Hollywood career includes the sale of multiple original scripts as well as writing on assignment for a wide range of studios. He has written more than a dozen produced films including Journey to the Center of the Earth, starring Brendan Fraser, and franchise sequels such as I’ll Always Know What You Did Next Summer, The Butterfly Effect II, The Scorpion King: Quest for Power and Hostel Part III.

In addition to Dodge College, he has taught at the UCLA Extension Writers’ Program, where he was the recipient of its Distinguished Instructor award.

Weiss is the author of the how-to screenwriting book Beyond the Hero: Relationship-Driven Screenwriting and the Secret to Hollywood’s Greatest Scripts (Allworth Press).

He is a member of the Writers Guild of America.
