Biography

Lori Martin is an award-winning creative leader, writer, and strategic marketer with nearly two decades of experience helping global brands build meaningful connections through storytelling, social media, creator marketing, and integrated campaigns. Throughout her career, she has helped shape how brands show up in culture — leading teams through the evolution of digital marketing from the early days of Facebook and Twitter to today's creator economy and platform-first storytelling. At Chapman University, she enjoys helping students bridge the gap between classroom concepts and the realities of today's rapidly evolving marketing landscape, where strategy, creativity, and authentic audience connection are essential to building successful brands.

Most recently, Martin served as vice president, group creative director at INNOCEAN USA, where she led the social creative and content teams for Hyundai and Genesis. She oversaw award-winning campaigns, real-time marketing initiatives, creator partnerships, and integrated brand experiences while helping establish Hyundai as one of the most recognized automotive brands on TikTok.

Throughout her career, she has developed campaigns for brands including Land Rover, Jaguar, Southwest Airlines, Wells Fargo, Mattel, Jenny Craig, Southern California Edison, Health Net, and UC Davis Health. Across every industry, she has remained passionate about using creativity to solve business challenges and build authentic connections between brands and the people they serve.

Martin’s work has been recognized by ADWEEK's Creative 100 and honored by organizations including the Webby Awards, Effie Awards, Clio Awards, The One Show, the Shorty Awards, the Interactive Advertising Competition Awards, and Cannes Lions. While she is proud of these industry accolades, she considers her greatest accomplishment to be mentoring creative talent and building collaborative teams where people are empowered to grow, experiment, and produce their best work.

Martin earned her MFA in Creative Writing from Chapman University, where her love of storytelling first took shape. Returning to Chapman as an instructor has given her the opportunity to combine her passion for writing with nearly 20 years of industry leadership. In the classroom, she emphasizes curiosity, adaptability, critical thinking, and the importance of creating work that is both innovative and purposeful. She is passionate about preparing the next generation of marketers and creative leaders to navigate a constantly evolving industry while remaining grounded in strategic thinking, creativity, and thoughtful storytelling.
