
Jessica Torres
Biography
Jessica Torres is a multifaceted artist and educator—a versatile choreographer, seasoned dancer, experienced director, occasional actor, and daily humorist. She holds an MFA in Dance from UC Irvine, an MA in Education from the University of Phoenix, and a BA from Loyola Marymount University. Jessica is certified in yoga under Srivatsa Ramaswami, classical Pilates through Angel Maffei, and meditation, Energy Shaping, and Soul Resonance Alchemy through the Ascension Academy of Light.
She currently serves as Adjunct Faculty at both Chapman University and Long Beach City College, and is a master teacher at the School of Dance and Music. Jessica is also the founder and director of the contemporary dance company Jess Harper & Dancers. Her academic and choreographic contributions span institutions such as LMU (Senior Lecturer), CSULA, UCI, AMDA, ACDA, and numerous high schools, festivals, and international programs.
Her professional performance credits include work with acclaimed companies and artists such as METHOD, KAIROS, TONGUE, MULTIPLEX, and Earth, Wind & Fire. She is a two-time Lester Horton Award recipient for Outstanding Performance in a Company with TONGUE and METHOD and was nominated for Best Female Artist while dancing with METHOD.
Jessica is passionate about bridging the gap between student and professional experiences, empowering young artists to find their voice and autonomy. Above all, she values work that blends artistic rigor with human connection—and her greatest creations to date are her two daughters, who keep her inspired, honest, and laughing.
