Biography

Professor Carey joined the Faculty of Chapman Law School as a Legal Research and Writing Professor in 2005. She received her Juris Doctor from UCLA where she completed the Program in Public Interest Law and Policy. Professor Carey served on the UCLA Women’s Law Journal, as a board member of the Public Interest Law Foundation, and was active in El Centro Legal Services Organization. After graduating from law school, Professor Carey joined the law firm of Rutan & Tucker in Costa Mesa as an associate in the Labor & Employment Section. She holds an M.S.W. from UCLA and worked for several years as a Children’s Social Worker for Alameda and Los Angeles Counties. Since 2008, Professor Carey has served as co-coordinator of the Legal Research and Writing program at Chapman. She has presented at both the Legal Writing Institute and Rocky Mountain Legal Writing Institute Conferences.
