Biography
James Brust enjoys working at the intersections of cinema and video games and has been introducing students to emerging technologies for storytelling for more than a decade.
He is an Unreal Engine Authorized Instructor, the recipient of an Epic MegaGrant, and led the installation of an LED volume for In-Camera Visual Effects (ICVFX) at Columbia College Chicago.
Prior to his arrival at Dodge College, Brust taught virtual production and developed
new academic programs at Marquette University and Columbia College Chicago.
As a source for personal inspiration, Brust’s radio project Limbik Frequencies has been streaming a curated selection of electronic music since the early 2000s,
frequently referred to by listeners as “music to design to.”
Originally from Southeast Wisconsin, Brust holds a B.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee
and a master’s degree in Instructional Technology.
