Biography

Mr. Lawandy, CAIA has three decades of experience in the financial industry with expertise in banking, credit management, corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, capital restructure, distressed debt, portfolio design and management, commercial/residential real estate acquisition and financing, and quantitative analysis and research.

Fadel joined the George L. Argyros School of Business and Economics at Chapman University after retiring as an Executive Managing Director of HW Financial Group and Co-Founder/President of HW Capital Partners. Prior to founding HW Capital Partners, Mr. Lawandy served as Portfolio Manager with Morgan Stanly Smith Barney. and is an alumnus of Wells Fargo & Co., having held several management positions earlier in his career with Wells Fargo Bank, Wells Fargo Financial, and Wells Fargo Home Mortgage.

He is currently the Director of the C. Larry Hoag Center for Real Estate and Finance and the Janes Financial Center, and a Professor of Finance and Real Estate. Further, Mr. Lawandy is a permanent presenter in Chapman University’s A. Gary Anderson Economic Forecast that dates back to 1979. His articles can be found often in the Orange County Business Journal, Orange County Register, Los Angeles Times, and other industry publications. Fadel also serves as CFO of a Southern California Neurosurgical Group.

Mr. Lawandy is the Vice Chair of the investment committee of the Grand Lodge of Free &Accepted Masons of California and is a two-term Chairman of the Board and President of CFA Society Orange County (2014-2016) where he continues to be an active member of the Board of Directors.

He holds a B.S./B.A. in Finance and International Business from the George L. Argyros School of Business and Economics at Chapman University, and an MBA from Norwich University. Fadel enjoys volunteering with nonprofit organizations to help his community to be a better place to live and work - serving as the Treasurer of Anaheim Masonic Lodge and as a Professional Service Responder with the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
