Biography

Danita Jones is a writer, filmmaker, and producer whose work spans more than three decades in television and film. She has written for acclaimed scripted series including Frasier and Sabrina the Teenage Witch and has developed feature film projects for major production companies. Throughout her career, she has been hired to write original screenplays and develop long-form narrative projects across multiple genres. She also developed a musical project for renowned producer Suzanne de Passe, expanding her work into cross-disciplinary storytelling.

As a filmmaker, Danita executive produced an award-winning short film that received the Golden Egg Award, and she executive produced a live one-man show that ran for three weeks in Hollywood. Her producing work spans development, field production, and post-production across character-driven unscripted series for Netflix, Peacock, and Discovery. She has directed crews in the field, conducted on-camera interviews, shaped narrative arcs in post, and guided projects from concept through final delivery. She served as a producer on the award-recognized series Unlocked.

Her experience spans writers’ rooms, feature development, independent filmmaking, and large-scale production environments across broadcast, cable, and streaming platforms. This breadth informs her teaching. In her classroom, she emphasizes objective-driven storytelling, scene construction, visual writing, and rewriting as essential creative disciplines. She is deeply committed to mentoring emerging storytellers, helping students develop both the technical craft and creative confidence necessary to sustain meaningful careers in film and television.
